(7) Parents of Joseph WARD given as just Jonathan and Elizabeth WARD (Haydon & WORMAN not shown).
I assume these must be the same parents as no other posibilities have yet been found.
Census returns: (1) Samuel WARD gives birth as Middlesex in all bar 1861 Census.
(Bridport/Bradpole) (2) In 1861 Census, Samuel WARD gives birth place as St. George's in the East.
This is a part of Stepney, Middlesex, London, a place noted for its rope walks (like Bridport).
(3) In 1841, 1851, 1861, Samuel WARD gives his occupation as a Cordwainer. 1871 and 1881 as Gardener.
(4) Sarah WARD never married, as 1851 & 1891 Census returns show her living alone (Kelly's in 1867 gives her title as Miss).
(5) Samuel WARD lived at: 1841 in East St.: 1851 in Rope Walks: 1861-81 in Barrack St./Sparacres (Sparacres is part of Barrack St.)
IGI internet: Vital Records: (1) Baptisms, Marriages. Most checked against Record Office files.
Kelly's Directory for Bridport: (1) 1867; Miss Sarah WARD, Tailoress, Chards Mead.
WARD Family Bible: (1) Birth dates of Samuel & Matilda WARD, and their children.
Monumental Inscription (below): (1) Jonathan HAYDON shown from IGI to be Elizabeth HAYDON's grandfather.
Hence the common buriel site, and continuation of the HAYDON name.
Monumental Inscription: Bridport, St. Mary: No 33.

Conclusions: All of the evidence strongly suggests that the tree given above is correct. Absolute proof of Samuel WARD's parents will have to await an
investigation of the London Metropolitan Archives, assuming such evidence exists. I may do this when I have more spare time.
Basically, it would seem Jonathan Haydon WARD (a Cordwainer), born in Bridport, went to London in 1814/15. He and/or his wife could have
found work on the rope walks, or in the Shoe and Boot trade. This may not have been such a good move though, as the war with France ended
(Battle of Waterloo in 1815), with the return and demob. of our forces from Europe (requirements for Army boots would have ended).
Samuel WARD born and baptised (?) in Stepney, Middlesex (then a suberb of London). Sarah WARD born in 1819 (either London proper, or Middlesex),
but wasn't baptised until the family returned to Bridport between 1819 and 1824. Samuel WARD followed his father's occupation of Cordwainer,
but eventually turned Gardener after 1861 (there was then a large garden nursery in Barrack St. - now built on).
